Iron is an essential mineral for the functioning of our body. Yet, even though it is one of the most abundant elements on Earth, iron deficiency anemia is one of the most common diseases.
As with many other vitamins and minerals, it is also true for iron supplementation that the best source is food. Some plants, such as spinach, have a very high iron content, which can be misleading, as the absorption of the trace element is less efficient from these than from foods of animal origin. In this respect, it is therefore most ideal if our diet, in addition to vegetables and fruits, also contains a mixture of meat, liver and other organs. In addition, it is also important that the absorption of iron is significantly facilitated by vitamin C.
Signs of iron deficiency
Certain conditions and diseases with an increased iron requirement, bleeding, as well as an incorrect, monotonous diet can all contribute to the development of iron deficiency. The most serious consequence of this is the development of anemia. It is especially common among children and young women. The most characteristic symptoms of the disease include fatigue and weakness, headache, dizziness, increased heart rate, and pallor. Occasionally, swallowing disorders may also occur, and a decrease in load capacity is very typical.
If iron deficiency is confirmed, the most important task is to find, treat and eliminate the underlying causes. In addition, of course, the deficiency must be made up, which in mild cases can be done either by correcting the diet or by taking dietary supplements. If these do not prove to be sufficient, medicinal iron supplementation may be necessary based on a doctor’s recommendation.
Some companies do not separate metal impurities from their products, instead they only indicate how much iron the product contains. The metal contamination introduced by the wear and tear of the machines is not equal to the iron of vegetable or animal origin, and we can more easily set the exact iron content of the product with pure material. The material can be cleaned of unwanted metal with the help of magnets.
